Nobuyoshi Araki's darkly fetishistic photography was Prabal Gurung's inspiration for Spring 2012. The models appeared as flowery dames bound with black leather, a harsh contrast no? I felt a bit of a Marios Schwab circa S/S 2009 déjà vu with this collection. Yet despite the restrictive references, there was still a multitude of wearable garments for the everyday Prabal Gurung fanatic; there were lovely handkerchief skirts and dresses, I saw a great pair of white cigarette pants, there were a few great structured blazers, and there was a particular pair of paints with a metallic violet latex dribble that I could see a more daring client (i.e. me) snatching up for their wardrobe. Last but not least, the shoes, which followed the quasi-kink theme, were to die (or at least get bound by a crazed Japanese photographer) for.

ReplyDeleteI agree! :) Karlie Kloss can work anything, especially long, elegant gowns.
