Helmut Lang S/S 2012

Overview-

When I first heard that Nicole and Michael Colovos for Helmut Lang would bring their models to the runway for Spring 2012, it was hard not to be excited. Oh how did they not disappoint. The collection was packed with beautiful angles; there were angular shoulders, pockets, lapels, bras, skirts, dresses, blazers, it was a geometrician's heaven. However, despite the multitude of straight lines, the collection did not feel rigid or static. The fabrics were pulled, and (masterfully) draped, and tucked, and twisted, and cinched; the look felt a bit lofty and almost suspended. The famed Lang deconstructed tinge was definitely present in these pieces for Spring. The color palate was simple: black and white with a splash of sunset yellow (and may I just say, I'm a sucker for the purity of black and white, so this collection scored many points in my book).
