Alexander Wang S/S 2012

Overview-

This season was all about speed for Alexander Wang; one could say velocity has never looked so chic. The Wang girls stomped down the runway in sleek, laser-cut sportswear couture. Athleticism was an all-encompassing factor in this collection; from the eased fit (which is very on-trend), to the copious amount of mesh/other sporty materials (high-tech breathable sneaker fabrics were used in some of the pieces), Spring of 2012 will be both practical and fashion forward. The styling only helped to rev up the cool-factor for this season, there were sculptural over-the-shoulder backpacks, the shoes were quirky bits that looked like they came straight from the 90's (a focal-era as of late), and some of the models even sported matching floral motocross helmets. One last note on something that I found to be particularly ingenious: the native American-looking designs on the sheer pieces at the end were maps for stadium seating, like what one would find at a sports event. I mean, how cool is that?

Highlights-

Is it weird that I instantly thought of Nicki Minaj
when I first saw this piece?
It seems like something she will want to wear.
