One Last Note Before I Begin

One last note before I begin reviewing fashion shows and whatnot; I would have started this blog last season, however, I was dealt a massive emotional blow. On the morning of February 11th 2010 I saw the news that Lee Alexander McQueen had ended his life. I credit McQueen for inspiring me into the world of fashion. His aesthetic was perfection, his superior craftsmanship was undeniable, and his imagination was utterly pan-dimensional. A grey pall was cast over that season. Nothing could replace the whimsy that McQueen imbued into his works. However, painful as it may be, life and fashion must go on. Alexander McQueen is, and will remain, my most cherished fashion idol.

What had been finished of Alexander McQueen's final collection was shown, quietly, in a Parisian salon on Tuesday March 9th 2010. McQueen's loyal team constructed what their master had already cut before his untimely passing. The collection conveyed the subtle beauty of the Dark Ages, but in a most glorious and opulent manner. Here's a viewing of the collection.

Here is Alexander McQueen's final collection:

The Alexander McQueen label will live on with Sarah Burton (McQueen's head assistant) as Creative Director.
