If one questions the validity of this up-and-coming minimalism trend, they needn't look any further than Prabal Gurung. The young Nepalese/American designer is quickly ascending the fashion ranks with his modern intuition and traditional craftsmanship. From the sharp color blocking to the pale makeup; Prabal (along with a few others) is clearly looking towards a 60's inspiration for the approaching Spring/Summer season. Yet, if there is one thing that he seems to have a firm grip upon, it's the duality of relevance and antiquity. His work does not appear fashionably obsolete, but indelibly artful and even sculptural. Not only do the pieces look crisp and pertinent, it's as though they are made with the hands of an old master. One might even assume that his pieces verge on the obsessive compulsive. Suffice it to say, Prabal Gurung is no novice when comes to his unmerciful craft.
