Alexander Wang has produced a few 180s for his latest Spring/Summer collection in New York. The most notable, being the lack of black. Anyone who is familiar with the young artist is aware that the darkest of dark is kind of a mainstay with the Wang label. So to see thirty nine looks saunter down the runway in white, ceil, tea rose pink, light teal, ecru, nude, and caramel (and no black) was a breath; rather, a gust of fresh air. Even the concept this season was drastically altered from its banker-couture predecessor. For Spring, working with ones hands as opposed to ones wallet seemed to be the recurring, and poignant, theme. From the rough streaks of white paint in the models' pulled-back hair, down to the "should look functional—but are still chic" heels; Alexander Wang made a successful push for the working class woman, and gave them edgy deconstructed frocks to boot (Get it? Because there were boots in the collec—...never mind.).
